“Investment is not a one-time thing-it needs constant review. You remove the poor performers, and you add the winners.”
A Number That Tells a Bigger Story
In financial services, numbers often define performance-assets under management, returns, investments and growth. But for Tapan Chauhan, Founder of CT Financial Services, one number carries a much deeper meaning: client retention.
Tapan has built a business where fewer than one in every hundred clients leaves. Behind that remarkable level of trust is not a complicated formula. It is the result of a simple habit that has shaped his professional life for years: consistency.
Long before he entered financial services, Tapan had already learned the importance of setting goals, working with discipline and delivering results repeatedly. That mindset, developed during his years in the pharmaceutical industry, eventually became the foundation of his entrepreneurial journey.
Today, CT Financial Services manages more than ₹72 crore in client assets under management, serving primarily High Net-worth Individuals (HNIs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). But the numbers tell only one part of the story. The bigger story is how Tapan built lasting relationships by treating financial planning as a continuous responsibility rather than a one-time transaction.
A Strong Foundation in Surendranagar
Tapan Chauhan’s journey began in Surendranagar, where he completed his early education before building an unusual academic combination that would later prove valuable in his career.
He pursued his Bachelor’s degree from L. M. College of Pharmacy, developing an understanding of precision, discipline and attention to detail. He then went on to complete a Bachelor of Law from M. J. Medani Law College.
At first glance, pharmacy, law and financial services may appear to be three completely different worlds. But each field gave Tapan a skill that eventually became useful in his entrepreneurial career.
Pharmacy taught him to be careful and methodical.
Law taught him to understand details, documentation and the importance of protecting people’s interests.
Financial services brought these qualities together in a profession where trust, accuracy and responsibility are critical.
His education did not simply prepare him for a particular job. It gave him a way of thinking that would later influence how he served his clients.
Learning the Meaning of Targets
Tapan did not begin his professional career in finance.
His first experience came in the pharmaceutical industry, where he worked in Quality Control for six months. The role introduced him to a disciplined professional environment where accuracy and responsibility mattered.
He then moved into pharmaceutical field sales, a completely different kind of challenge.
Sales taught him something that classrooms could not: the importance of consistently delivering results.
For around six and a half years, Tapan worked in pharmaceutical sales. During those years, he achieved his sales targets in six full years.
For him, this achievement became much more than a professional milestone.
It developed a habit.
Every month brought a new target. Every target required preparation, effort, follow-up and discipline. There was no guarantee that the next month would be easy. Yet he continued to show up and perform.
Over time, he realised that consistency was becoming one of his greatest strengths.
That experience eventually gave him the confidence to believe that if he could build consistent results for someone else’s organisation, he could apply the same discipline to something of his own.
Taking the Entrepreneurial Leap
In 2015, Tapan decided to take that leap.
He founded CT Financial Services, entering the financial services industry with the same discipline that had helped him succeed in pharmaceutical sales.
Starting a business meant stepping into uncertainty. There was no established client base, no guarantee of immediate growth and no shortcut to earning people’s confidence.
Tapan understood that financial services was fundamentally a relationship-driven business.
People were not simply handing over money. They were trusting someone with their savings, protection, goals and future.
That meant trust had to be earned gradually.
Rather than trying to build a business around the highest possible number of clients, Tapan chose a different approach—deep relationships and long-term guidance.
Within two years, he achieved the goals he had initially set for himself.
But the real achievement was still ahead.
Building a Business Around Trust
Today, CT Financial Services manages more than ₹72 crore in Assets Under Management (AUM) and serves a focused clientele that includes HNIs and NRIs.
The business offers a range of financial services, including mutual funds and SIPs, term and life insurance, health insurance, demat accounts and IPO-related services.
But Tapan’s approach has never been about simply selling financial products.
His objective is to understand where a client wants to go and then stay involved throughout the journey.
That philosophy explains why many of his early clients continue to remain associated with him.
In an industry where relationships can sometimes become transactional, Tapan has tried to build something different: a financial advisory relationship that continues long after the initial investment.
The Importance of Continuous Review
One of the biggest insights Tapan gained from working with investors was surprisingly simple.
Many people invest their money and then forget about it.
They may start a mutual fund, purchase an investment product or build a portfolio, but rarely return to review whether those decisions are still aligned with their goals.
Tapan saw this as a major gap.
For him, investing is not something that happens once and then remains untouched. It requires continuous review.
He compares an investment portfolio to raising a child. Just as a child needs regular attention, guidance and monitoring while growing, an investment portfolio also needs to be reviewed and adjusted as circumstances change.
His approach is straightforward: Remove poor performers. Add winners. Keep reviewing.
This review-first philosophy has become one of the defining principles of CT Financial Services.
It is also one of the reasons clients continue to trust Tapan with their financial journeys.
Insurance Is Protection, Not Investment
Another important principle that Tapan strongly believes in is the need to clearly separate insurance from investment.
“Insurance is purely a protection tool-not an investment tool,” he says.
For many families, especially those dependent on a single earning member, adequate insurance protection is not optional. It provides financial security during some of life’s most difficult situations.
Tapan has observed that people often make the mistake of mixing insurance and investment. Some purchase insurance expecting investment-like returns, while others focus entirely on returns and overlook the importance of protection.
He believes financial planning should begin with understanding the purpose of each financial instrument.
Protection should protect.
Investment should create wealth.
And both should be planned according to the individual’s circumstances and goals.
To strengthen this protection-first approach, CT Financial Services also has a dedicated claims handling and legal team, helping clients and their families navigate the claims process when they need financial support the most.
This is another area where Tapan’s legal education has become particularly valuable.
Learning Never Stops
For Tapan, professional credibility is not something that can be established once and then forgotten.
He believes learning must continue throughout an entrepreneur’s career.
He is a NISM-certified and registered Mutual Fund Distributor and has also completed NISM certifications related to Alternative Investment Funds (AIF), Specialized Investment Funds (SIF), and Portfolio Management Services (PMS).
His learning journey has also extended into insurance, where he completed a demanding three-year programme covering Basic, Advanced and Corporate levels from the Indian Institute of Excellence & Consultancy Pvt. Ltd.
His performance and commitment to the field earned him the “Fast Track to Success” Special Achievement Excellence Award for Master in Insurance for the period from April 2022 to March 2023.
In 2025, he added another qualification to his professional journey by completing the Chartered Financial Goal Planner (CFGP) certification from the American Academy of Financial Management (AAFM) India through an education programme conducted by Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd.
For Tapan, these qualifications are not simply certificates.
They represent an ongoing commitment to becoming better equipped to guide clients.
Recognition That Follows Consistency

Tapan’s professional work has also received recognition from the financial services industry.
He is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT USA), one of the most respected recognitions in the global insurance and financial services industry. He qualified for MDRT 2022 through LIC’s Ahmedabad Division.
His contribution to the wider business community has also been recognised through the Relationship Tournament Catalyst Award, presented at the first anniversary celebration of SABHA-Satwara Association for Business, Harmony & Advancement.
These achievements are important milestones, but they reflect something deeper about Tapan’s journey.
Recognition did not come from a single achievement.
It came from years of discipline, learning, relationship building and consistent performance.
From Financial Advisor to Financial Guide
What makes Tapan’s approach distinctive is that he does not see himself simply as someone who sells financial products.
He wants to be a guide throughout the client’s financial journey.
Whether the requirement is mutual fund investment, SIP planning, life insurance, health insurance, a demat account or an IPO, his focus remains on understanding the client’s needs and helping them make informed decisions.
The objective is not merely to complete a transaction.
It is to help the client move closer to a financial goal.
That difference is important.
A transaction ends when the product is purchased.
A relationship continues as the client’s life, goals, income and financial circumstances change.
Tapan has chosen to build his business around the second approach.
A Vision to Guide 10,000 Investors
Looking ahead, Tapan’s ambition extends far beyond growing the size of his current business.
His goal is to educate 10,000 genuine investors and personally guide them towards achieving their financial goals.
The word “educate” is particularly important to his vision.
He believes investors should understand what they are investing in, why they are investing and how their financial decisions fit into their larger goals.
In an environment where financial information is increasingly available online, the challenge is not simply access to information. It is knowing which information is relevant and how to apply it correctly.
Tapan wants to contribute to that understanding through a relationship-driven and goal-oriented approach.
The Power of Staying Consistent
Tapan Chauhan’s entrepreneurial journey is ultimately not a story about a sudden breakthrough.
It is a story about small, disciplined actions repeated over time.
The same person who consistently achieved sales targets in the pharmaceutical industry carried that habit into entrepreneurship. The same discipline that helped him succeed in one industry became the foundation for building trust in another.
His journey demonstrates that entrepreneurs do not necessarily need to start with extraordinary resources or a revolutionary idea.
Sometimes, the most powerful advantage is a habit.
Show up.
Keep learning.
Keep improving.
Keep your promises.
And stay consistent.
That consistency can eventually become credibility.
Credibility can become trust.
And trust can become a business that lasts.
A Lesson for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Tapan’s journey carries a simple but powerful message for anyone thinking about entrepreneurship:
The habits that make you successful in one field can become the foundation for success in another.
His pharmacy education taught him precision. His law education taught him attention to detail and protection. His pharmaceutical career taught him discipline and target-oriented execution. His financial services journey taught him the value of trust, patience and long-term relationships.
Every chapter prepared him for the next.
His story also reminds entrepreneurs that learning never really ends. Certifications, professional development and practical experience are investments in credibility-not just qualifications to display.
Most importantly, Tapan believes a business should be built around genuine care rather than one-time transactions.
When customers feel that an entrepreneur is genuinely committed to their success, they are more likely to stay for the long term.
That philosophy has helped Tapan build CT Financial Services into a trusted financial services business—and it continues to shape his vision for the future.
The Journey Continues
From a pharmacy graduate in Surendranagar to a disciplined pharmaceutical sales professional, and from there to the founder of a growing financial services business, Tapan Chauhan’s journey is a powerful example of how consistency can transform an ordinary habit into an extraordinary strength.
His story is not about overnight success.
It is about showing up year after year, continuing to learn, earning trust one relationship at a time and staying committed to the people he serves.
With a vision to educate and guide 10,000 investors, Tapan’s next goal is not simply to grow a business.
It is to create a lasting impact on the financial lives of thousands of people.
And if his journey so far is any indication, he will continue to pursue that goal with the same principle that has guided him from the beginning:
Stay consistent. Keep learning. Keep moving forward.
