Because learning doesn’t end when the talk does.

Hey Fempreneurs! We’re back with the second blog in our “Take the Talk Home!” series — and this month, we dove into a topic that sits at the heart of every life, every business, and every dream: Money Matters.

Every month, the Fempreneur community ignites powerful learning and insight-rich conversations around a monthly theme — with brilliant speakers who bring us the practical wisdom, lived experiences, and real “tricks of the trade” needed to grow as women entrepreneurs.

The “Take the Talk Home!” series is your cosy corner to revisit, reflect, and relive the golden insights from these sessions — so that your learning continues long after the talk ends.

The Women Behind the Talk

Our Captain of the Month, Dr. Jalpan Lala, and Vice Captain Hemali Shah — both dynamic Fempreneurs in their own right — led off October’s theme, Money Matters, with energy and intention across Fempreneurs’ WhatsApp communities.

Throughout the month, Jalpan and Hemali set the tone with daily prompts, micro-challenges, polls, reflections, and actionable tasks. These nudged all of us to pause and ask:

  • How do I actually think about money?
  • Where is my money silently slipping away?
  • Is this purchase a need, or just a “frill expense” triggered by a discount notification?
  • Do I really use that subscription I keep auto-renewing?

Their daily nudges helped us realise something crucial: “Money Matters” isn’t only about investing — it’s also about saving consciously, understanding behaviours, and reducing avoidable leakage.

The Masterclass: From Warm-Up to Wisdom

As the month wrapped up, our Captains brought us together for a power-packed masterclass with another inspiring Fempreneur — Jigna Lavingia, an Investment Consultant fondly known as a “wealth creator” by her clients.

It was the perfect culmination of the month-long build-up. Everything Jalpan and Hemali had prepared us for — awareness, discipline, mindful spending, honest money conversations — came full circle with Jigna’s engaging talk: “From Fear to Freedom: Building a Healthy Money Mindset.”

Her approach was refreshing: simple steps, deeply human reflections, and reminders we often overlook while chasing bigger goals.

Based in Ahmedabad, Jigna Lavingia is fondly known by her clients as a “wealth creator”—and not just because she helps women grow their money, but also because she helps them grow their relationship with money. With over a decade of experience in personal finance, she simplifies what often feels intimidating and turns it into small, confident steps women can take every day. Jigna’s approach blends practical financial planning with mindset coaching, making her not just a financial mentor but a catalyst who empowers women to take charge of their economic freedom.

Key Takeaways from Jigna: A woman who believes that when you heal your relationship with money, you heal a part of your life.

1. Understand the Source of Financial Fear: Jigna began with a gentle reminder: money fear comes from our past, not our potential. She shared how many women trace their anxiety back to childhood stories like “money is hard to earn” or “don’t take risks.” The minute you name the fear, it loses power.

2️. Shift from Emotion to Education: Her mantra is simple: when in doubt, learn—don’t panic. Instead of reacting emotionally to expenses, investments, or market changes, get curious. One participant shared how reading just one beginner-friendly article a day changed her confidence within weeks.

3️. Build the 3 Pillars — Clarity, Confidence & Consistency: Jigna compared financial success to building a house:

  • Clarity is your blueprint,
  • Confidence is your foundation,
  • Consistency is the daily habit of showing up.
  • Miss even one, and the structure feels shaky.

4️. Take Small, Steady Financial Actions: She encouraged everyone to start with tiny steps—like saving ₹100 a day or investing ₹500 a week. One fempreneur in the group shared how her “chai money” turned into her first mutual fund SIP (Systematic Investment Plan).

Sometimes, the smallest shifts can create the biggest financial freedoms.” Jigna Lavingia

5️. Freedom Comes from Preparedness: Jigna emphasised that financial freedom isn’t about being rich—it’s about being ready. An emergency fund, insurance, and basic investments create peace of mind that money alone cannot buy.

6️. Money Mindset is a Lifelong Practice: She reminded us that just like fitness or meditation, money mindset needs regular work. Old beliefs creep back in, so it’s essential to refresh, revisit, and reframe our thoughts around money.

7️. Financial Knowledge = Financial Power: Jigna illustrated this with a simple story: two women with the same income, but only one understands compounding. Ten years later, their lives look nothing alike. Information is power—and profit.

8️. Progress is Better Than Perfection: “Done is better than perfect” applies to money, too. She shared an example of someone waiting for the ‘perfect time’ to invest for five years… while another woman started imperfectly but gained more simply because she had started sooner.

9️. Protect, Plan & Prosper: She broke this down into three layers:

Protect → insurance & emergency fund

Plan → short-term & long-term goals

Prosper → wealth-building investments

Skipping straight to “prosper” without protection is where most people go wrong.

10. Invest in Dreams, Not Just in Money: Her closing message was poignant: investments are not about charts—they’re about dreams. Whether it’s a home, a business, travel, or early retirement… the emotion behind the goal fuels the discipline required to achieve it.
