Because learning doesn’t end when the talk does.

Every month, the Fempreneur community dives into inspiring, power-packed conversations around a monthly theme — featuring incredible speakers who take time from their packed schedules to empower women entrepreneurs with practical insights, business wisdom, and the real “tricks of the trade.” September’s theme? “Smart Marketing”.

Yes, we know we’re fashionably late with this post — but hey, with all the festive energy buzzing — between Ganpati, Navratri prep, followed by Diwali and so many others inbetween, can you blame us? Also, it does take a while to kickstart something new, doesn’t it.

So here we are — better late than never — launching our brand-new blog series: “Take the Talk Home.”

This series is your go-to space to revisit, reflect, and retain all the golden nuggets from our monthly sessions — so you can keep learning, experimenting, and growing long after the event ends. And we’re kicking it off with a standout session: “Smart AI Marketing for Women-led Businesses (DIY for Smart Fempreneurs)” by Maulik S. Chauhan, founder of Chakli Scale-Up Studio.

If you missed attending it, or simply want to relive the insights, this recap has you covered. After all, that’s exactly what “Take the Talk Home” is all about — wisdom that sticks, ideas that grow, and learning that inspires action.

The Man Behind the Talk — Maulik S. Chauhan

Maulik is the founder of Chakli Scale-up Studio, named after the humble sparrow (“chakli” in Gujarati). Sparrows might be small, but their impact on the environment is mighty. They remind us that even the tiniest actions can create ripples of change.

That’s the spirit Maulik brings to business: empowering micro-entrepreneurs and grassroots changemakers to take small, consistent steps that lead to meaningful transformation over time.

Marketing ≠ Sales: A Powerful Reset

Maulik kicked off with a much-needed truth bomb — “Marketing is not Sales.”

  • Marketing is about creating memory space in your customer’s mind.’
  • Sales is just collecting cash once that memory is built.

Sales is just collecting cash once that memory is built.

But where do you start?

Well, the 2 Big Focus Areas Every Smart Fempreneur Needs:

1️. Knowing Your Audience & Positioning Yourself Clearly
Most entrepreneurs make the classic mistake of trying to sell to “everyone.” But when you speak to everyone, you connect with no one.

As Maulik emphasised, your audience defines your positioning.“Healthy snacks for working moms” hits harder than “healthy snacks for whoever wants to be healthy.”The sharper your audience, the stronger you can create recall and brand resonance with marketing.

2️. Retention > Constant Acquisition
Instead of chasing new customers all the time, focus on retaining and nurturing the ones you already have.

Unless your business caters to a Gen Z audience that thrives on novelty, loyalty will always win over constant reinvention.

Every interaction — from the order confirmation to the unboxing experience — is an opportunity to build trust, delight, and long-term loyalty.

The DIY Kit: Bringing AI, EQ & BTL Magic into Everyday Marketing

When we talk about “Smart Marketing,” it’s easy to imagine big ads, influencer campaigns, and dashboards full of data. But that’s not what this is about.

For fempreneurs, smart marketing means using simple tools, emotional intelligence, and genuine storytelling — not expensive software.

Let’s make it easy to understand:

1. AI is Your Silent Teammate

AI is not complicated. Think of it as your quiet helper — someone who saves you time, not someone who replaces you. You can literally “talk” to it like you talk to your team.

Here are some prompt examples from Maulik:
• “Write a festive caption for my candle business that sounds warm and emotional.”
• “Draft a Diwali thank-you message for my loyal customers.”
• “Suggest 5 ideas to re-engage old buyers without sounding salesy.”

That’s it. You ask — it gives.

In Maulik’s own words: “Start with what you already do — captions, DMs, follow-ups — and let AI handle the boring parts. Over time, it understands your tone and style. It becomes your silent teammate.

Maulik cites a Pune-based home-baker who he worked with, who used AI to draft her “return of winter menu” post. It suggested the headline “Smell of nostalgia in every bite” — which became her most-shared post ever!

No agency, no jargon — just one prompt and her real voice.

2. Think BTL — Build Touch, Not Traffic

Most small businesses chase visibility. But real growth happens when people remember how you made them feel. That’s what Below The Line (BTL) means — not big ads, but small emotional touchpoints.

Maulik suggests trying these:
• Add a handwritten thank-you note in every order.
• Send a 20-second voice note to repeat buyers on festivals.
• Host a small “customer circle” video call to show new products first.
• Share raw behind-the-scenes stories — not polished ads.

Another handmade-soap entrepreneur from Coimbatore started adding mini seed packets inside every delivery, recalls Maulik. As time went by, customers began sharing pictures of their tiny balcony gardens — her brand turned into a community.

That’s BTL done right: small action, lifelong impact.

3. AI × EQ — Your Secret Strength

Maulik believes that women (by their very nature) bring natural empathy, warmth, and intuition — things AI can never replace.

AI gives logic.
EQ gives heart.
Together, they make your brand smart and soulful.

So while “AI can show you your best-performing posts, only you can sense which one made people smile. AI can draft a thank-you message. But only you can add the personal note that makes it memorable.” – Maulik

Here’s another case in point from Maulik’s rich repertoire of having worked with entrepreneurs, particularly women entrepreneurs: A jewellery designer in Ahmedabad used AI to write customer-appreciation notes — BUT she recorded herself reading them in her own voice. That human touch made her messages go viral.

4. Build Systems, Not Stress

“Scaling doesn’t mean doing more. It means doing better with less effort.” – Maulik

He advocates for starting small:
• Keep ready-made templates for captions, invoices, and replies.
• Use AI to summarise feedback or product reviews.
• Schedule reminders for follow-ups.
• Automate festival wishes or newsletters.

When a local clothing boutique in Vadodara used these simple AI tools to sort customer queries by urgency, the results were: fewer missed messages, faster replies, and calmer work days — all without hiring anyone.

Smart Marketing in Action

Maulik didn’t just share concepts — he brought them to life with real-world stories that made everything click. Once these simple, DIY systems (as discussed above) are in place, the results start to speak for themselves — as many fempreneurs have already discovered through the power of structure, simplicity, and smart marketing in action…

A café owner in Indore renamed her loyalty card “Chai Circle.” She used AI to design a small digital stamp card and shared it over WhatsApp. Within a week, 62 regulars re-joined her circle. No ads — just connection.

A parenting coach from Surat asked AI to help her list “10 biggest frustrations of working moms.” She used those lines in her reels and DMs — engagement tripled.

Final Thought

AI doesn’t replace your brain — it frees it.
EQ doesn’t replace logic — it completes it.
BTL doesn’t replace branding — it strengthens it.

When you combine all three — AI, EQ, and BTL — your marketing becomes human, heartfelt, and unforgettable.

And that’s what truly smart fempreneurship looks like.
