In the bustling streets of Mumbai, a visionary was born in 1968, destined to change the way we understand human potential. Dr. Aloke Shyamsunder Hurra, a name that resonates in the fields of education and psychological evaluation, is the creator and founder of Brainbow DNE (Dermatoglyphics Neuroscientific Evaluations). His life story is a testament to resilience, innovation, and the unwavering belief that every individual possesses unique gifts waiting to be uncovered.
Early Life and Education
Growing up in a pioneering Punjabi family in Ahmedabad, Aloke was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of his forebearers. His academic brilliance shone brightly at St. Xavier’s High School, where he consistently ranked among the top three students. Following a family dream, he pursued mechanical engineering at LD Engineering College, where he not only excelled but also played a pivotal role in introducing CAD-CAM technology to the curriculum. This was just the beginning of a journey marked by ambition and purpose.
A Turning Point
After graduating in 1991, Aloke launched his own manufacturing venture, producing polypropylene woven matting in Gujarat. His brand, “Alishan,” swiftly became a market leader, celebrated for its quality—a reflection of the Japanese craftsmanship he admired during his training in Japan. However, in 2006, disaster struck. A devastating fire ravaged his factory, resulting in colossal losses. But rather than succumb to despair, Aloke made a courageous choice: he sold his family home to settle debts, reaffirming his commitment to integrity. This moment defined his ethical compass and reinforced his belief in the power of resilience.
Embracing New Horizons
Transitioning to corporate training in the same year, Aloke embarked on a journey of empowerment, conducting over 250 workshops on essential skills like communication, goal setting, and stress management. His path led him to the Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship at IIM, where he guided aspiring entrepreneurs. It was here that he encountered the concept of “Multiple Intelligences,” sparking a deeper exploration into human behavior.
A pivotal encounter with a professor introduced him to the world of dermatoglyphics—the scientific study of fingerprints and their connection to personality. Intrigued, Aloke dedicated himself to this revolutionary field, culminating in the establishment of Brainbow DNE. Through his research, he discovered that fingerprints, as unique identifiers, could accurately reveal an individual’s inherent strengths without asking a single question—a groundbreaking approach in psychological evaluation.
Transforming Lives
Over the past 14 years, Dr. Hurra has assessed more than 40,000 individuals, guiding them toward understanding their true potential. Each case is a testament to transformation, from a misunderstood child discovering their musical talent to a teenager redirected from the pressures of medicine to a flourishing career in fashion design. The success stories are endless, and each brings a smile to Aloke’s face, reaffirming his mission to illuminate the paths of others.
His work has not only impacted individuals but also fostered a community of over 120 trained Brainbow experts, all aligned in the goal of creating stress-free lives. Dr. Hurra’s ambition is to reach at least 100,000 people and train over 1,000 counselors in the principles of Dermatoglyphics.
Giving Back and Future Aspirations
In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Hurra is deeply committed to social causes. As an active member of Rotary International, he channels his efforts into giving back to society, focusing on sustainable development and community empowerment. His accolades include an honorary doctorate in Psychology from the Global Human Peace University, recognizing his contributions to the field.
Aloke is also a member of the Peers Global Business Platform, where he plays a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among peers. His passions extend beyond work; he enjoys cricket, singing, road trips, and is an avid follower of technology and politics.
