By Darshana Manish Thakkar
My name is Darshana Manish Thakkar, and I proudly introduce myself as the Founder of Transformation – The Strategy HUB and a MSME Transformation Specialist. Today, I work as a consultant, mentor, author, speaker, jury member and columnist – but the journey that led me here has been a long, challenging, and purpose-driven path.
I come from an academic background in Electrical Engineering and MBA in Business Operations, and from the very beginning I was someone who enjoyed solving problems, improving systems, and leading initiatives. During my college days, I was one of those students who was not just focused on marks, but deeply enthusiastic about understanding how things worked and how decisions shaped outcomes. I always believed that education becomes meaningful only when it turns into value for people and society, and that belief has guided my journey throughout.
My professional career began in the MSME manufacturing sector, and it didn’t take long to realise that I was stepping into an environment where women were not expected to exist. Factory floors, industrial consulting, and business operations were considered a “male space”. Many times, before people heard my ideas, they questioned my capability. It was not just about delivering results – it was about proving my right to even stand there. The pressure was real, but so was my determination. I worked with complete commitment, acquiring hands-on expertise in operations, systems, strategy, and leadership. Slowly, respect replaced doubt.
The real turning point of my life came when I realised something crucial – MSMEs don’t fail because owners lack effort; they fail because they lack structure, systems, strategy and support. I had seen countless business owners working tirelessly, and yet stuck. I knew that if I continued as an employee, I could impact one organisation at a time. But if I became an entrepreneur, I could impact thousands. That thought stayed with me until it became a calling.
With that courage, I took my boldest decision – jumping into entrepreneurship and establishing Transformation – The Strategy HUB. There were no guarantees, no safety nets, and the market was far from ready to accept a woman consultant. But I believed in myself, my expertise, and my purpose.
The core of my work is simple – businesses do not need complicated ideas; they need clarity and practical, affordable solutions. At Transformation – The Strategy HUB, we help MSME organisations strengthen their business growth strategy, operational excellence, SOPs, digital transformation, and access to government schemes. Our approach is not theoretical – it is hands-on, result-driven and tailored to the needs of small industries.
My clients include MSME organisations and young entrepreneurs from sectors like engineering, textiles, healthcare and manufacturing. What sets me apart is my deep industrial experience and my ability to convert complexity into simple action plans. MSMEs trust me because I speak their language – practical solutions that generate growth and sustainability.
As my work expanded, recognitions followed – not because I chased awards, but because I stayed committed to impact. Some of my most memorable milestones include the Global Women Leadership Award 2024, MSME Honours – Champion of Cause 2023, Gujarat Women Leadership Award 2022, and several honours from reputed platforms and industry associations. I was also felicitated in the gracious presence of Honourable Finance Minister Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman during the Women Directors’ Conclave. My work has been featured in business publications like Economic Times, Times of India, Sandesh, Hindustan Times, Industrial Automation Magazine, CIO Look, Corporate Citizen, and CIO World.
I have had the opportunity to serve as:
- National President – Entrepreneurship Development Council (WICCI)
- Mentor – Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), Niti Aayog
- Advisory roles with MSME Business Forum India and Tata Nexarc
- Chairperson – MSME Support & PRO, Makarpura GIDC Association
I have trained and mentored over 30,000 individuals, including 7,000+ women entrepreneurs, MSME owners, professionals and young aspiring leaders. Empowering women has become one of the most meaningful aspects of my work. When women rise, families rise. When MSMEs strengthen, the nation strengthens. I am fortunate to contribute to both.
Despite accomplishments, I am far from done. My future vision is to build a complete MSME empowerment ecosystem – where businesses receive guidance, mentorship, technology, support partners and growth opportunities under one roof. I am also deeply committed to:
- Making structured consulting affordable and accessible
- Promoting adoption of digital transformation in MSMEs
- Supporting women-led businesses through training and handholding
- Mentoring the next generation of young entrepreneurs and students
Balancing work, family and social life is not easy, but I believe that when work is purpose-driven, it becomes energy-giving rather than energy-draining. Outside work, I enjoy reading, learning, and consciously upgrading myself. I consider myself both hardworking and smart, but more than anything else, I am consistent and self-driven. My motivation does not come from external praise – it comes from the joy of seeing an entrepreneur grow with confidence.
People often ask me if I consider myself successful. My answer is yes, but not because of awards or titles. I measure success in the number of businesses transformed, jobs created, entrepreneurs empowered, and lives impacted. If my knowledge helps someone grow their business, regain belief in themselves, or overcome fear, that is my true reward.
To every young entrepreneur, I say this –
Start small, think big, and act consistently.
You don’t need perfect resources; you need courage, clarity and discipline.
Build systems early. Learn continuously. Take guidance. Use technology. Stay financially wise. Do not fear failure – fear not trying. Entrepreneurship is not a race; it is a journey of growth and impact.
My purpose is very clear and unshakeable – I want to continue being a catalyst for confidence, clarity, and transformation. If my story can inspire someone to believe in themselves and take one more step forward, then I know that I am living my purpose.
