Early Life, Education & the Spark of Passion

Hemali Hiten Shah’s entrepreneurial story begins much earlier than most-it started during her 10th-grade summer holidays when she joined a chocolate-making activity. What began as a simple hobby soon grew into a deep passion, setting the foundation for the inspiring chocolatier she is today.

Hemali holds a B.A. in Psychology & Philosophy along with a Diploma in Home Science

Her academic background in understanding people, discipline, and creativity later helped shape her unique approach to business, customer relations, and product innovation.

A Hobby That Became a 35-Year Legacy

With over 3.5 decades of experience, Hemali stands tall as one of India’s highly trusted chocolatiers. Her brand, Choklathouse, is an FSSAI-registered and MSME-certified firm known across India for its customized chocolates.

She is deeply committed to hygiene, quality, and handcrafted excellence. Each chocolate is made fresh, only on order, with varieties ranging from Milk, White, Dark, Sugar-free to Vegan chocolates

Building a Purposeful Business

What makes Hemali’s journey special is not just her craft, but her heart. Through Choklathouse, she creates income opportunities for household maids and college-going girls, helping them gain confidence and financial support.

Her clients range from everyday families celebrating life’s moments to corporate clients pan-India, trusting her for consistent quality, honesty, and commitment. Hemali firmly believes her competitive strength is her integrity and dedication-delivering exactly what she promises every single time.

Challenges, Comebacks & Courage

Like every entrepreneur, Hemali’s journey has seen significant challenges.

One of the biggest hurdles was competing with a rising number of home chocolatiers who sold products at much lower prices. Educating customers about the value of her quality, hygiene, and experience required immense patience and consistency

Another bold step in her journey was making a comeback after a 2-year break, rebuilding everything from scratch. She calls Choklathouse her “first baby,” and walking away was never an option. Her resilience during this phase reflects her extraordinary grit and passion.

She continues to work on improving her digital presence-like making reels and handling social media-even though technology doesn’t come naturally to her. Yet she keeps learning, one step at a time.

Achievements That Sweeten the Journey

Accumulating recognition over the years, Hemali has received numerous awards, trophies, and certificates, including:

  • Stree Astitva Award
  • GE Entrepreneur Award
  • Growing Buddies Award
  • Vyapaar Jagat Award & Certificate
  • Fempreneur Platform Recognition
  • Catalyst Entertainment Award
  • Harvard World Records Award (recent)

She has also been invited as a Guest Speaker at multiple events, motivating and guiding aspiring entrepreneurs.

Balancing Work, Life & Creativity

Hemali juggles multiple roles-partner at an export firm during the first half of the day, chocolatier in the second, and homemaker throughout. She still makes time for friends, family, and her love for writing.

She is a multilingual poet with two solo English poetry books and several contributions to Hindi and English anthologies

Her belief in continuous learning keeps her energized, whether it’s upgrading her baking skills, adapting to social media, or exploring new business tools.

Philosophy, Motivation & Success Mantra

Hemali believes that:

  • Success is when clients return and stay loyal.
  • Positivity, calmness, and a smile can transform client interactions.
  • Every order-no matter how small-should feel like the very first one.

Her biggest motivation comes from clients’ reviews and appreciation, and she continues to create chocolates with the same excitement she felt decades ago.

Vision for the Future

Hemali envisions Choklathouse becoming a household name like Cadbury’s, reaching thousands of homes, celebrations, and corporate spaces across India. She also hopes to inspire and uplift many women along her journey.

Her Message to Young Entrepreneurs

Never give up on your dreams. However small they may seem, with dedication and consistency, you will reach the stars.
