At the tender age of 20, she got married to Mr Sampath Raj and started her family life. She started assisting her husband in their jewellery store, considering her immense interest in diamonds and her eye for identifying good designs as they added diamond vertical into their business. She helmed this vertical by bringing in the latest as well ethnic designs and putting together a unique collection of diamond jewellery. Many of their customers and the sale of diamond jewellery liked and appreciated it started soaring.

Supriya’s love for diamonds gradually turned into her passion and she started learning and reading more and more to increase her knowledge about diamonds and finally she mastered the 4’C of diamond.

After over a decade of work in the diamond business, she felt it’s important to keep pace with the changing times and brought up the idea of starting an e-commerce jewellery store to cater to the internet savvy jewellery buyers of today’s digital era. She wanted to provide a platform for people to buy diamond jewellery with trust and also help them by sharing her knowledge and experiences. This was the idea and story behind the formation of “Ketan Diamonds” was formed.

We the founders are passionate about jewellery market and want to expand our reach to customers all over the country.

It was quite challenging for Supriya Sampath to start this business as she is a hand on mother of two kids and as she embarked on this hard path of entrepreneurship. Before starting the company they analyzed consumer purchase behavior, market trends, suppliers, banks, government support agencies, introducing new trends and designs, adequate marketing and promotions, etc. However, she overcame all the challenges with meticulous planning and strategy and kept working with immense focus. Though the key threats are fierce price competition by competitors. And working towards attaining the trust of customers with constant brand-building efforts.

Idea behind the inception

The founder, Mrs. Supriya Sampath, noticed that many diamond merchants were taking undue advantage of customer’s ignorance by selling them low-quality diamonds for a higher price.

She felt transparency in the business was much required and it should provide authentication certificates for every diamond purchased. Also, she started educating and spreading awareness about the quality and pricing of diamonds amongst customers. We can check the purity of diamonds through 4 C’s – Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat. Each of the C’s is graded on a scale and can be evaluated for quality. Grading of the 4 C’s help determine the value of a diamond and show its quality. Diamond sellers often set their prices based on grading reports.

Inspiration for the Products

Well, The expression comes from a light-hearted song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” sung by Marilyn Monroe. Diamonds are definitely the most popular gemstone loved by women and are also the symbol of steadfast love. Because a girl’s best friend finds symbolic expression in the diamond’s idea. “A diamond is forever” so say those advertisements for diamonds. The female being quietly embraced by the man she is engaged or married to. Her ring shows a lifelong friendship with the companion.

When we at Ketan diamonds launch a new collection, we want the women wearing the piece to feel happy and in love with what she is wearing. Whenever we launch a new collection, we always keep women’s respect as a key factor in our collection. As we understand that jewellery makes women feel special, fashionable, confident and happy.
